Dr. Hani Nouman is a senior faculty member at the School of Social Work. She is a licensed social worker and has extensive practical experience in the field of community interventions. Dr. Nouman completed her PhD at the Tel Aviv University (Direct Doctoral Track, 2013) and her post-doctorate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2014) and Ulster University of Northern Ireland (2016).
In her research, Dr. Nouman focuses on examining and conceptualizing the relationship between social work and social policy. This includes studies dealing with social workers' involvement in policy shaping processes (‘policy practice’), social entrepreneurship in social work, decision-making processes, and community interventions. These studies are conducted from a multicultural perspective, with emphasis on minority groups in society. Her research is application-oriented, intended to address social problems and to advance social change through evidence-based practice.
Dr. Nouman's articles have been accepted for publication in leading journals such as 'The British Journal of Social Work' and 'Research on Social Work Practice'. She supervises research students on these topics, and has received several research grants and awards, including a grant from the Israeli Science Foundation (ISF-2018-2021).
In addition to these academic pursuits, Dr. Nouman’s involvement in in policy shaping processes has remained strong. She is a member of several academic committees at the University of Haifa, including a committee for social involvement in the senate and the undergraduate program committee in the School of Social Work, and serves as the academic head of the media laboratory. In addition, she serves as a voluntary consultant for various communities and is an active member of policy shaping committees.
