Tair Ben-Porat (PhD, MPH) is currently the director of the international MPH program.
Dr. Ben-Porat’s broad research interests include understanding the combination of biological and psychosocial factors, patient’s behavior (in particular dietary and nutritional behavior), and their roles in obesity and weight loss, as key information to develop and test innovative personalized therapies and behavioral interventions for people living with obesity and related chronic conditions. She previously managed the obesity and metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) nutritional therapy for patients with severe obesity at Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center (Jerusalem, Israel), and has been a main/co-investigator and collaborator on a considerable number of studies in the fields of obesity, health behavior and nutrition.
During the past decade, Dr. Ben-Porat served as the Director of the obesity and MBS forum of the Israeli Dietetic Association (ATID) and the Chair of the Integrated Health Committee of the European chapter in the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO-EC). Through these, she has further been able to reach healthcare professionals and significant stakeholders and translated her work into clinical guidelines.
Dr. Ben-Porat’s FRQS (Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Santé)-funded postdoctoral fellowship at the Montreal Behavioral Medicine Centre and Concordia University (Montréal, Canada), was focused in personalized nutrition and obesity-related mechanisms and interventions, using patient-oriented research frameworks.
She is currently the Principal Investigator of the Nutrition, Health Behavior and Obesity Research Lab at the University of Haifa.
