Background
פרופ’ שמואל רשפון הינו בעל תואר דוקטור לרפואה (MD) מן האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים ותואר שני בבריאות הציבור (MPH) מאותה אוניברסיטה. הוא מומחה בבריאות הציבור ובמינהל רפואי.
פרופ’ רשפון היה רופא נפת חדרה וסגן רופא מחוז חיפה של משרד הבריאות. 1988 מ- ועד 2021 היה רופא מחוז חיפה. מאז 1993 הוא גם יו”ר הועדה המיעצת למחלות זיהומיות ולחיסונים של משרד הבריאות בירושלים. הוא היה יו”ר הועדה להנחית מרפאות היוצאים לחו”ל מ-1998 עד 2020 . הוא לימד בקורסים “אפידמיולוגיה” ו”בריאות הציבור” בפקולטה לרפואה של הטכניון. מלמד כיום את תחום החיסונים בפקולטה לרפואה של אוניברסיטת בר אילן בצפת.
פרופ’ רשפון הנו בעל מינוי אקדמי של פרופ’ (חבר) (מומחה)(אמריטוס) מטעם אוניברסיטת חיפה משנת 2004. היה ראש מגמת בריאות הקהילה בבית הספר לבריאות הציבור. תחומי המחקר העיקריים שלו הם חיסונים ומניעת מחלות זיהומיות. הוא שותף לכתיבתם של 75 מאמרים.

Research
Prof Baron-Epel’s research interests include social epidemiology, health promotion, health behaviors, injury prevention and inequalities in health between Arabs and Jews. Her latest work includes areas such as discrimination, social support, social capital and their relation to health. In addition she studies health literacy and injury prevention. Many of her studies evaluate health promotion interventions run by various organizations such as the Ministry of Health.
Orna has published over 100 articles in leading public health, health promotion peer reviewed journals, edited a book on health promotion.
