Background
Liron has completed her M.A. studies at the department of community mental health, including a practicum in mental health rehabilitation. In 2010-2019 she worked as a research coordinator at NATAL, Israel Trauma Center for Victims of Terror and War.

Peritraumatic emotions and sense of threat during war and their role in symptom development: A prospective experience sampling study in people with and without a diagnosis of mental disorder
Our knowledge on peritraumatic psychological reactions, such as emotions, sense of threat, or stress symptoms, remains limited due to the use of mostly retrospective and cross-sectional methodology. Within the peritraumatic time frame, when stressful conditions are ongoing, we don’t know enough about the interconnections between emotional reactions, symptoms, threat reactions, and exposure to specific stressors. Research on these issues is particularly scarce among individuals with a mental disorder, who are generally considered to be a vulnerable population. Additionally, while peritraumatic negative emotions have been associated with subsequent posttraumatic stress and depression, the predictive role of emotional reactions to specific stressors during ongoing stressful conditions, assessed in real-time, is still unclear, particularly that of positive emotions. This work addresses these gaps in knowledge, by repeatedly assessing negative and positive emotional reactions and sense of threat in real-time during war, among people with and without a diagnosis of mental disorder. It aims to examine the associations between these variables and exposure to recurring high-intensity stressors, namely rocket warning sirens, as well as explore the role of these variables in both peritraumatic responses and subsequent symptom development, among civilians with and without a diagnosis of mental disorder.
