Background

Daniela obtained her master’s degree in Community Mental Health (with honor) from the University of Haifa, Israel and received an excellence scholarship during the master's degree. Daniela holds her first Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Haifa, Israel, and a second Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science (with honor) from Ariel University, Israel. She has experience in mental health rehabilitation as well as in nutrition and she is currently applying to sit for the Nutrition-Dietetics Certificate exam in order to become a clinical dietitian. She got a PhD excellence scholarship from the University of Haifa.

Current research

Stress reactivity and eating behaviors

The relationship between stress and eating behaviors has received much attention over the last years, and stress has been identified as one of the mechanisms that leads to overeating and obesity. However, the factors underlying this relationship require further research. Most of previous studies on this topic used retrospective or laboratory methods, making it difficult to identify the momentary factors that are associated with eating behaviors. Therefore, the research will use experience sampling data to investigate the relationships between trauma exposure, psychological distress, daily stressors and dysfunctional eating behavior. This has the potential to make a novel and important contribution to the understanding of the stress-related mechanisms of dysfunctional eating.
