About the Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing

Learning Nursing

The Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing is a leading academic institute for nurse education in Israel. The department’s vision and mission are inspired by the legacy of Cheryl Spencer, her compassion for people and her passion for the art of nursing

The Department’s Vision:

Due to immigration, aging of the population, the economic effects on healthcare provision and budgets, and security threats, Israel is constantly under pressure to respond to the ever changing health needs of the country and its population. These processes also effect healthcare organizations as well as nurses and their patients.

The Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing is committed to promoting nursing professionalism in Israel. Our mission is to offer a model for excellence and leadership in nursing through innovative curricula, cutting-edge teaching methods and community involvement, and to educate highly qualified nurses so they are prepared to provide holistic and comprehensive care. Nurses who can meet clinical, technological, managerial and psychological challenges of care.

Department’s mission: The teaching philosophy

The Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing aspires to foster professional growth through continuous responsibility for self-learning. Our mission is to continue expanding and diversifying our comprehensive learning setting while considering the patient’s particular stage in the life cycle. In all our learning settings, the patient is located at the center of the treatment (from childhood to end of life). Our program exposes the student to the entire range of health interventions: prevention and health promotion, primary, secondary, tertiary, and quartennary care. We aim to promote learning through reflection and critical evaluation by encouraging the integration of multi-disciplinary diverse fields of knowledge (clinical, inter-personal, organizational, and economic) and applying them to practice. Translating this philosophy into finer goals, we aim to offer a student-focused learning environment that promotes patient-centered nursing.
