Background

As a researcher and a clinician, my scientific research and publications have both theoretical and clinical impact.

My primary research area is geriatric audiology. I study the effect of aural rehabilitation on auditory and non-auditory factors in the elderly, and the plasticity of the auditory system in older adults following hearing aid use and auditory training. I am also interested in the role of perceptual learning in the perception of speech and in the success with aural rehabilitation.

My second research area is hearing screening. The goal of this research is to study and compare screening methods, aiming to find the optimal screening method for school-age children in terms of specificity, sensitivity and cost-effectiveness.

Research

Current research:

  1. Age, hearing, hearing aid use and rapid learning in recognition of perceptually-difficult speech and in acclimatization to hearing aids (with Prof. Karen Banai)
  2. Hearing screening in first grade school children using signals in noise
